A Guide to the AVN Awards
This is the first article on the Hot Ass blog. Today we will be providing a guide to the AVN Awards. Since there is big focus on pornstars across the site, I thought that it would be a good idea to discuss the AVN Awards, which is regarded by many as being the "Oscars of porn"! There are many visitors that will head to this site and not have a great idea of the leading names in the adult industry. When I carry out research on such award shows, this will also allow me to educate myself on the latest names to be shining from within the industry. Then I can dig around and later showcase these girls here on Hot Ass. I do believe that it is important to follow the adult industry in great depth. It continually provides many of the most beautiful girls on the planet who are all trying to "live the dream". This is a multi-billion dollar industry. It really doesn't get much bigger.
Anyway, let's start with the AVN basics. The AVN Awards arise from AVN (Adult Video News). They are a big name in the adult industry starting back in 1983 and this established American magazine rates adult films and basically tells us what's going on in the adult industry. The AVN Awards take place every year in early January. There are a large number of categories (far too many), but there are only really a few that are worth shouting about, with the "Best New Starlet" always being the one to look out for. It just so happens that my timing has been perfect for this article as the 2010 AVN Awards has just taken place and we now have a fresh batch of sexy ladies to discuss here and certainly they'll be pictures to follow. Here are the results that matter from the AVN Awards 2010 (in a fairly random order)...
Best Adult Website: BangBros.com
These guys are certainly doing the business. Their global Alexa rank as I write this is #1162 and they are actually ranked #550 for the United States. Bang Bros are located in Miami and have quite a large network of 30 porn sites in total. What's interesting is that they have made all of their millions online and have certainly attracted plenty of controversy along this road. If you actually type through "Porn" in Google you will not find them on that first page. The number one ranked site is of course PornHub and if you a regular on there then you will have no doubt seen plenty of videos from the Bang Bros. I guess they do rather well from this angle.
Female Performer of the Year: Tori Black
You'll find a rather nice picture of Tori Black in the "popular pornstars" section of the photo gallery. This is the first year that she she has broken in on the AVN Awards, but has just picked up 5 Awards, equating to her being the biggest name (for many) in the adult industry today. Tori Black has only been doing porn since 2007 though, so she's definitely done well for herself. Great looking and good on screen as well.
Best New Starlet: Kagney Linn Karter
I admit, I have not really heard much about Kagney Linn Karter before today. This blonde pornstar from Texas certainly boasts a great set of titties and a very peachy ass. Very pretty, not mind blowing though. Will certainly be doing my research over the next few days on her.
Unsung Starlet of the Year: Shawna Lenee
Unsung generally means "not famous or acclaimed". Shawna Lenne is another cute blondie that has appeared on the cover of Penthouse. Very appealing girl this one, more to follow from her.
Hall of Fame: Gina Lynn
Well, she's got it where it counts, with a notable 2008 F.A.M.E. Award for Favorite Ass on her books. This Puerto Rican blonde bombshell is a rather impressive pornstar, although she's not a major headliner to many.
Best Selling Title of the Year: Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge
Might just be worth buying this one. It also won "Best Renting Title of the Year".
Best New Web Starlet: Lexi Belle
She's a filthy little minx this one. Doesn't boast the traditional body of a pornstar. Cute though.
Web Starlet of the Year: Sunny Leone
Good looking and nice and curvy in all the right places. She has Indian blood that would explain those striking looks (I have quite a thing for Priya Rai you see).
MILF/Cougar Performer of the Year: Julia Ann
Julia Ann is 40 years old and definitely qualifies as a premier MILF. She has won a fair few AVN Awards over the years and always seems to remain as an industry favourite. She reminds me of Abi Titmuss in looks, very nice.

So there you go, that's the jist of the 2010 AVN Awards that took place at The Palms Casino Resort in the ever glamorous Las Vegas. To be honest, when I did look over the past years of winners I have been really surprised by many of the winning names. With Hot Ass, we are really looking for amazingly great looking pornstars and this is reflected in the girls that get a great volume of coverage here on the blog. Looks ain't everything though, especially with porn, but again it is worth noting that this blog provides an adult photo gallery, not a bumper collection of adult videos where the girls are doing their thing. You're probably best heading to the evil tube sites if you want some of that action!
Anyway, that pretty much concludes our guide to the prestigious AVN Awards. There have been a few good shouts here for girls that many people (including myself) have not been too familiar with. We will certainly be focusing on these tasty ladies here at Hot Ass over the next few weeks. Oh and whilst I'm still here, what about "the world's most famous pornstar?" - how has she scored at AVN? Well, Jenna Jameson has won a fair few AVN Awards in the past and she now even has her own little Award named "The Jenna Jameson Crossover Star of the Year". Personally, I think she should attain the tag as "the world's most overrated pornstar"! I've never been able to see what it is that she has that other pornstar favourites don't? I just don't understand all the hype.
